To meet specific needs 

The Ministry of Education’s policy suggests that young people with disabilities or adaptation and learning difficulties be integrated into regular classrooms. However, a single form of integration is not the ideal solution for all these children. Therefore, other avenues must be considered, and this is where specialized schools come into play.

Most of these specialized schools, founded over 50 years ago, originated from university research projects. Others were created to meet the needs of parents who could not find the necessary resources within the education system.

Over the years, private schools specialized in educational support have developed solid expertise and have become an essential part of the Quebec education system. Under schooling agreements with school service centers and anglophone school boards, these schools offer schooling at costs comparable to those of public schools.
